Digha is a seaside resort town in the state of West Bengal, India. It lies in East Midnapore district and at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal. The latest attraction of New Digha is the newly established Marine Aquarium and Research Centre by the National Council of Science Museums. The research center is the Asia's largest Marine aquarium and was developed in 1989. The aquarium has a total of 32 tanks out of which 24 are big and 8 are small fresh water tanks. The water tanks are equipped with compressed air supply, light and regulated supply of water.

               Udaipur, An unexplored virgin sea beach located in the border of Orissa is three KM from Digha Station. The solitary beach away from crowd and busy city life. Dotted with dense, tall casuarina trees along the shore can make you feel that this is your own beach. This uninhabited beach is around three KM long and lies between New Digha and Talsari.

                Shankarpur is a virgin beach town located 14 km east of Digha in West Bengal. It is also a regular fishing harbour. The mornings are cool, when fishermen can be seen hauling their huge nets out of the sea. It is at a distance of about 185 km from the capital city Kolkata, and about 14 km from the famous beach town Digha.                 

 

Junput

                      Junput is about 9 km from Contai town and is 40 km away from Digha by bus. From Kolkata side you have to drive to Contai and then take a left turn towards Junput. It is basically a small fishing village. There is no beach as such in Junput. If you go there having the sea in your mind then you will be quite disappointed. The water has shifted far off from there and the only thing left is white muddy sand.

                      About 38kms from Gangtok on North Sikkim Highway is the Phodong Monastery. It is called the Karma Kargyu Monastery of Phodong and is the home to some extremely friendly monks. Nestled amidst gorgeous landscape that further enhances its beauty, the monastery is known for the intricate murals that adorn its walls. Like Phensang, the best time to visit Phodong would be the month of December, when the annual festival is celebrated with religious dances.

               The beautiful Tosar Lake is located at an elevation of 4,000m between the Mangan and the Chola Range. The lake has a giant cliff that is considered sacred and is worshiped by the local people. This region provides some of most splendid views of mount Khanchendzonga. The trail to Tosar Lake starts from the road head at Naksuk, above Naga village and traverses through a dense conifer, bamboo, rhododendron and pine forests.

            Darjeeling is a town and a municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located in the Lesser Himalaya at an elevation of 6,700 ft (2,042.2 m). It is noted for its tea industry, the spectacular views of Kangchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain, and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

            Tiger Hill (2,590 m) is located in Darjeeling, in the Indian State   of West Bengal, and is the summit of Ghoom, the highest railway station in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has a panoramic view of Mount Everest and Mt. Kangchenjunga together. It is 11 km from the town of Darjeeling and can be reached either by jeep or by foot through Chowrasta, Alubari or  Jorebangla and then climbing up the incline to the summit.

               Peace Pagoda, Darjeeling or Darjeeling Peace Pagoda is one of the Peace Pagodas designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace. It is located in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. Like most of the other Peace Pagodas, it was built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885–1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order.

               The Batasia Loop is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. At this point, the track spirals around over itself througha tunnel and over a hilltop. It was commissioned in 19.It is 5 km from Darjeeling, below Ghum. There is also a memorial to the Gorkha soldiers of the Indian Army who sacrificed their lives after the Indian Independence in 1947.

                                The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the "Toy Train", is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway thatruns between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal, India. Built between 1879 and 1881, the railway is about 78 kilometres (48 mi) long. Its elevation level varies from about 100 metres (328 ft) at New Jalpaiguri to about 2,200 metres (7,218 ft) at Darjeeling. Four modern diesel locomotives handle most of the scheduled services; however the daily Kurseong-Darjeeling return service and the daily tourist trains from Darjeeling to Ghum (India's highest railway station) are handled by vintage British-built B Class steam locomotives.

                   Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (also called the Darjeeling Zoo) is a 67.56-acre (27.3 ha) zoo in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. The zoo was opened in 1958, and an average elevation of 7,000 feet (2,134 m), is the largest high altitude zoo in India. It specializes in breeding animals adapted to alpine conditions, and has successful captive breeding programs for the snow leopard, the critically endangered Himalayan wolf and the red panda.

                  Located within the Shillong Cantonment, on the outskirts of the city, lies a sparkling waterfall which looks like an eagle with wings spread. Hence the name Spread Eagle Falls. The falls is locally known as Umkaliar or the falls into which Ka Liar slipped. A soothing setting amidst the calmness of nature - a treat to the eyes.

                     12 kms on the outskirts of the city the mountain stream descends through two successive falls set in dells ofern-covered rocks. At a short distance beyond the falls, there are two smaller falls which are none the less beautiful and captivating. These are the Wei Iaplam Falls and the Wir Phang Falls.

                     An ideal picnic spot, 1965 metres above sea level and 10 kms from the city, offers a panoramic view of these country side, and is also the highest point in the State. Obeisance is paid to U Shulong at the sanctum at the peak's summit every springtime, by the religious priest of Mylliem State. In the evening the city lights below appear like a star-studded abyss.
